How to set up and use a dedicated domain for SMS links shortening and tracking?

SMS feature is available only in MAX plans. Click here to learn more about GetResponse MAX.

SMS domains are now available for beta tests upon request. You can contact your Customer Experience Manager or Customer Success Team at support@getresponse-max.com to set them up.

You can use a dedicated domain to shorten and track links in your SMS campaigns. This helps improve deliverability and brand recognition. Due to technical requirements, setup must be completed with the help of your Customer Experience Manager or Customer Success Team at support@getresponse-max.com.

You can use the following types of custom SMS domains:

  • Brand new root domain or subdomain.
  • Subdomain of your mailing domain (custom mailing domains are not supported for accounts using the Shared IP pool).
  • Your mailing domain (in specific cases, please consult the Customer Success Team first).

Additional guidelines:

  • Before a domain is added to your account as a custom SMS domain, it requires additional configuration. We will provide configuration guidelines based on the type of domain you decide to use.

Setting up a dedicated SMS domain

  1. Prepare your domain
    • Choose a short, brand-related domain or subdomain (e.g. sms.brand.com) that is not used elsewhere.
  2. Contact Support
    • Email your Customer Experience Manager from your registered email address, or contact our Customer Success Team at support@getresponse-max.com.
    • Provide the domain or subdomain you want to use for SMS link shortening and tracking.
  3. Configuration
    • We will give you the DNS settings that need to be set up on your end (if required) and will handle the domain configuration within GetResponse on your behalf.
    • You’ll be notified when the domain is available in your account.

Using your dedicated SMS domain

  • Once set up, your domain will appear in the Shorten and Track section dropdown.
  • To shorten and track a link, enter it in the Shorten and Track section and select your domain.
  • All links in a single SMS (including the unsubscribe link) will use the selected domain.
  • Each recipient gets a unique shortened link.
  • Link click statistics will appear in your SMS message stats (Manage SMS).
  • Please be aware that if your domain’s A record becomes invalid while a message is being scheduled or sent, it will be automatically replaced with the free GetResponse shortener domain: gr8.to.
