GetResponse vs. Drip: Comparisons, features, and pricing

Choosing the perfect tool for your email marketing campaigns can make the difference between success and failure. 

And that means it’s, to say the least, essential to pick the right one. 

But if you’re reading this, it means you’ve whittled your choices down to two options: GetResponse or Drip. 

If it was up to me, I would tell you to pick the first choice. I think GetResponse is the top choice not only because it’s our tool or because of its powerful email marketing capabilities, but also because of its unique features like webinars or conversion funnels.

But that’s the thing about choosing the right software for your business — the important decision falls on your shoulders. 

This post will compare each tool’s features so you can decide whether GetResponse or Drip is best for you.

1. Which one has A/B testing capabilities?


A/B testing is one of the most useful features in any useful marketing tool; it tells you what’s working and what’s not. 

GetResponse’s A/B testing capabilities are broad. You can test the usual elements like headlines and forms, but you can also dive deeper to see what impact your navigation elements are having on conversions.

You can even test what colors and call-to-action (CTA) buttons have the most impact on your audience.

If certain color palettes work better than others, or your subscribers click on CTAs above the fold more than when they’re below the fold, the A/B tests will highlight it. And then, you can incorporate the changes into your marketing strategy to boost conversions. 


Drip calls its A/B testing features “split testing.”

The tool’s capabilities let you test out basic elements like: 

  • Subject lines
  • Changing “from” names
  • Send times

However, Drip’s A/B testing doesn’t allow you to test out the content inside your emails. If your subject lines are working, it’ll tell you. But if you want to know what copy is resonating more with readers, you can’t test it out with Drip.

2. Are there inbuilt templates in these two email marketing products?

What the email template library has in quantity, it also has in quality. Every template is designed with deliverability in mind, and they are optimized to reach every inbox no matter what elements you add. 

Each template is professionally designed for welcome emails or promotions, so you can talk to customers and sell your products without needing coding skills. After all, the main aim is easy-of-use. 

To save time, the templates are split into categories like ecommerce, online marketing, travel, notifications, and many others, so they’re easy to find. 

And if you want to change an element or add your own images, you can use our drag-and-drop builder to customize the templates. 


Drip has recently added a drag-and-drop builder to its template tools. 

In Drip’s template library, you can choose from templates like holiday emails or monthly newsletters:

Then, the drag-and-drop builder allows you to customize the template. However, the feature is new, so the functionality is limited. It only allows you to have one box for editable content, so if you need multiple editable columns — you’re out of luck. 

3. What does each tool’s marketing automation look like?


We believe our marketing automation software has made it as easy as possible for everyone from small businesses to freelancers to get an automated marketing campaign up and running quickly and easily.

Let’s start with your existing contact list. If you have one, all you have to do is upload it to GetResponse using a CSV file or by integrating GetResponse with your current provider. 

Once that’s done, you’re ready to launch your first campaign, which is where the dashboard comes into play. And if you want to launch a simple campaign using pre-made templates and triggers, you can use automation templates.

Need to build a more in-depth campaign? You can create a custom workflow using a visual dashboard.

Let’s say you want to recover potential customers who are abandoning their carts at the checkout. With our pre-made workflows, GetResponse will automatically send them a follow-up email:

And if you want to add to this automation, you can drag and drop elements from the list on the screen’s right-hand side and add them to the workflow. Easy!


Drip’s marketing automation tools also have a lot to offer. 

Like GetResponse, it comes with pre-built automation workflows, so sending out abandoned carts or Black Friday emails is a simple task. The drag-and-drop builder also lets you customize workflows when you need to.

However, unlike GetResponse, Drip doesn’t have landing page or webinar tools, making it impossible to add these steps in your marketing funnel into your automation sequences.

If you want your workflows to reflect your entire marketing campaigns — not just your emails — it may be difficult. 

4. Conversion funnels, anyone?


In the past, you would need a suite of different marketing tools to build custom conversion funnels. But with GetResponse, you can now do it all under one roof. The Conversion Funnel tool allows you to build a custom conversion funnel using every marketing tool we offer, like: 

  • Landing Pages
  • Stores
  • Facebook Ads
  • Instagram Ads
  • Sales pages
  • Payment processors

Once you find a template that matches your marketing goal, it will outline what elements you should add to each stage of your funnel. The best part is that you can visualize it:

After all the elements are added, and you launch your marketing campaign, GetResponse can detect leaks in the funnel. If people are dropping off at the product page, it may signal you need a better offer or change the page itself.

And it also tracks the campaign’s overall success rate. You’ll see how many unique visitors the campaign had, how many converted, and how much revenue a campaign achieved. 


Drip doesn’t have any conversion funnel tools in its marketing suite.

5. What about autoresponders?


If you want to welcome a new subscriber as soon as they sign up or thank a customer for purchasing a product, why not put it on autopilot?

Drip’s autoresponder tool comes with pre-packaged autoresponder campaigns, so if you want to sell a course or follow up on a subscription trial, the work is already done for you.

All you have to do is view each email in the autoresponder sequence and customize them as you need. 

Unlike GetResponse, Drip doesn’t have a calendar tool for autoresponder emails. This might make it hard for you to visualize, and you could end up accidentally doubling up on emails. 

Remember, nobody likes a crowded inbox.

6. Webinars, anyone?


GetResponse makes it easy to launch an interactive webinar right from the dashboard. 

Not only can you create webinars from scratch or with the help of a template, but you can also add in features like sign-up forms, images and even give the webinar a custom URL.

Here’s the best part: because you’re already running your other marketing campaign using GetResponse, your webinars will feed directly back into the same dashboard. 

Every lead you collect using the webinar feature will be automatically added to your email list and nurtured through your marketing campaigns. Plus, when you launch a webinar, you’ll also have access to tools like: 

  • Interactive whiteboards
  • Screen sharing/interactive chat room
  • Recording (so you can remarket the webinar once it’s over)
  • Q&A session
  • Payment gateways
  • Moderated chat
  • Multiple hosts

Using these features, you can sell everything from products to courses directly from your webinars. 


Drip doesn’t offer any specific webinar tools in its marketing suite.

7. What are the costs of these two software products?


GetResponse has four pricing tiers: Email Marketing, Marketing Automation, Ecommerce Marketing, and Max.

Like a lot of email marketing tools, the price you’ll pay depends on your list size. 

If you have 1,000 contacts, the Email Marketing plan will cost just over $15 a month and give you access to the email marketing, forms and popups, autoresponders, landing pages, website builder, and Facebook ads. 

The Marketing Automation plan costs $49/month and gives you access to marketing automation, webinars, advanced segmentation, contact scoring and tagging, and sales funnels.

In addition to the previously mentioned features, the Ecommerce Marketing plan also includes quick transactional emails, ecommerce automation, ecommerce segmentation, and web push notifications.

When you create a free account, you can test out premium features (available in higher plans) for the first 30 days.

And if you like what you see, you’ll be rewarded with a discount. Buy a 1-year plan, and you’ll get an 18% discount. If you sign-up for a two-year plan, you’ll get a 30% discount.


Drip’s pricing structure offers good value for money, as it’s based purely on your list size.

If you have 2,500 contacts, you’ll get access to the platform for $39/month. And if you want to try before you buy, they offer a short trial for 14 days.

Unlike GetResponse, Drip doesn’t offer any discounts for customers willing to sign a longer annual contract.

8. Which one lets you build landing pages?

GetResponse has your back with over 180 different templates to choose from.

You can customize any landing page with your branding, images, and text. No coding experience is necessary, and every landing page is responsive on every device — from desktop to mobile.

That’s not to say you can’t add code. 

The landing page editor allows you to add custom code using HTML, CSS, or Javascript, which helps to embed elements like a Twitter feed or form. All you have to do is cut and paste. 

With the landing page creator, you can also:

  • structure your landing pages using sections
  • add content blocks for images, video, text, and buttons.
  • add static and pop-up forms.
  • add webinar registration forms.
  • add a sense of urgency with countdown timers.
  • collect payments thanks to PayPal integration.
  • add social sharing icons.
  • add custom-code elements using HTML, CSS, or Javascript.
  • preview your landing page to see what it looks like on a desktop or a mobile device.


Drip doesn’t have any landing page building tools.

9. Which one lets you do segmentation?


GetResponse’s segmentation tools make it easy to create highly targeted, personalized emails.

If you want to make contacts feel like you’re talking to them 1-to-1, you can. GetResponse uses data from forms on websites or landing pages to learn more about your subscribers. 

Once they land on your contact list, you can then assign tags to them based on their behavior and send out targeted emails to specific groups. 

However, we don’t stop there. We even track how engaged your contacts are using our lead scoring tool. GetResponse picks out who is paying the most attention based on a 5-score scale:

  • Not engaged (when somebody is not interested in the content you send them… at all)
  • At-risk
  • Neutral
  • Engaged
  • Highly engaged (when somebody loves the content you send and is actively opening emails and clicking the links)

We call this an Engagement Score, which will show up next to each contact on your list:

Now, you can send out your best offers to the customers who are most likely to click the “buy” button!


Drip’s segmentation features allow you to target people based on how they subscribed and when they were last active.

You can also add specific conditions to these segments. For example, if a subscriber joined your list on Black Friday last year, you can segment them onto a new list to retarget them for this year’s Black Friday sales. 

The tool also uses a tag-based system. 

It allows you to segment your list using tags like when a person joined your list or how much they spent on their last purchase.

But you can’t see how engaged each subscriber is like you can with GetResponse. 

10. What’s customer support like with these two vendors?


We have our customer’s backs — 24/7.

Customers can reach out to our experts over live chat or send us an email about their issue depending on their pricing plan. All our customer support channels offer help in 8 different languages.

Our Enterprise customers also get their own Account Manager, who helps onboard, setup, and optimize marketing campaigns.

If there are any issues, they can help solve them quickly, and they’ll also analyze campaigns to find ways to boost conversions and engagements. 


Drip has a robust online support center. It gives customers a way to self-diagnose problems using webinars, blog posts, and online courses. 

If you have a problem you can’t solve yourself, Drip offers email and live chat support from 9 am to 5 pm CT, Monday through Friday. 

Any problems outside of those hours, and you’ll need to fill out a contact form on their website. There is no phone support or out-of-hours help available. 

11. Which one helps you run Facebook and Google ads easily?


We know launching successful ad campaigns can be hard, so we made it easier using our custom ad tools. 

You can design and launch Facebook Ads from the GetResponse dashboard. All you have to do is upload your banners, write copy, pick a target audience like unique visitors, similar audiences, or existing contacts, and click publish. 

We also recently launched a tool that lets you build Google Ads from the dashboard. Once you integrate your Google Ads account, you just need to add text to your ad, set the target audience, and add your desired budget:



You can’t design or launch Facebook Ads or Google Ads using Drip. 

However, Drip has a Facebook Ads integration you can use to connect to the platform. If a subscriber takes a certain action, you can add or remove them from a custom audience on Facebook, making targeting easier. 

But can you launch and edit Facebook, Instagram, and Google Ads from inside Drip? No.
