How do I delete duplicates from my lists?
To delete duplicates, you’ll first need to see exactly how many duplicated email addresses your lists have. (The same email address in multiple lists counts as multiple contacts, not unique contacts. Please note that an email address will not be added twice to the same list.)
- Go to Dashboard>>Lists and click Show all contacts.
- Click Advanced search and select specific lists to review and delete contacts from.
- On the Search contacts page, sort the results by email. (Scroll down to select how many contacts you’d like to see displayed on a page.)
Take a closer look at the column with emails. Since email addresses are sorted, you can see which ones are added to multiple lists. Your next actions will depend on the number of duplicated emails and if it’s not time-consuming to remove them manually.
- Confirm you want to delete the contacts from lists.
How can I use marketing automation to remove duplicates?
You can use Lists filter in your marketing automation workflows to find, tag and delete duplicates that are in your GetResponse lists. With this method, you can check if the contacts in your workflow are also present on any other list in your GetResponse account. It’s a very easy way of finding duplicated email addresses within your account.
This workflow is triggered when someone subscribes to a specific list called Chocolate monster. The Lists filter checks if this contact is also subscribed to another list named Cookie monster. If your new contact is on any of the lists selected in the filter, the workflow will send it through the positive path. In this case – the contact that exists in the list Cookie monster goes through a positive path and is removed from the list Chocolate monster in order to prevent duplication. If it was not present on the Cookie monster list, the workflow would send it down the red path and contact would remain in the list Chocolate monster.
