How to top up my SMS balance?

Due to the risk of SMS mass pumping attacks increasing on a global scale, note that whenever your’e launching a campaign in a new market you should get familiar with local market-specific guidelines directly from our provider Vonage website. We’re not able to ensure top-notch deliverability without meeting those requirements by our customers, often this means P2P contact with Vonage to go through formalities:
Country-Specific Features and Restrictions – Vonage API Support
To start using SMS, you need to top it up first.
You have two main payment options to top up your SMS balance: via PayU or invoice request.
Top up via PayU (self-service)
- Log in to your account and go to Tools > SMS.
- On the SMS page, click on Add funds located on the right-hand side.
- On the next page, enter the amount you wish to top up.
You can also calculate the cost of sending SMS based on the number of messages and the destination countries.
- Click Add funds to proceed to PayU. Depending on the region, PayU offers different payment methods – in the EU you can pay by card or Google Pay.
The invoice will be generated using the account details you have on file, so ensure your information is up to date. Here’s how to check and edit your account details.
Top up via invoice request
If you prefer to be invoiced for the top-up, reach out to your Customer Experience Manager or our Customer Success Team. Specify the amount you’d like to top up, and we will issue an invoice for that amount. Once the invoice is settled, your SMS balance will be topped up accordingly.
Additional options: recurring payments
- If you regularly send SMS, you can set up a recurring payment plan. Discuss this option with your Customer Experience Manager or our Customer Success Team for personalized pricing, which varies based on the volume of SMS and the destination countries.
What affects the final SMS sendout cost?
We do provide an estimated value before sending however the actual cost of your sendout is based on:
- the number of valid phone numbers in your recipients group
- SMS content: custom elements such as shortlinks, custom field values, unsubscribe links
- special characters used, such as non-standard alphabets and emojis.
The final cost can only be evaluated after the sendout is complete, but we provide you with an estimate.
