# What is the difference between a contact form and a signup form?

You can use GetResponse [**Forms and Popups**](https://app.getresponse.com/popups) for collecting contacts and allowing visitors to leave you messages. We have prepared two different types of forms for that.

Signup form
-----------

It’s always a good idea to give visitors the opportunity to subscribe to your list. This way you can use other GetResponse tools, like [autoresponders](https://www.getresponse.com/help/autoresponders), [newsletters](https://www.getresponse.com/help/email-marketing), or [marketing automation](https://www.getresponse.com/help/automation) to contact them further and build your online business presence by staying in touch.

Visitors who subscribe using a signup form will be added to your GetResponse list.

Contact form
------------

Allow your visitors to ask you questions and send messages directly from your website. This helps with user engagement and adds a human touch to your business providing a direct line of contact.

You can find messages from contact forms in **[Chats](https://app.getresponse.chat/#/)**.

Visitors who send messages via contact forms won’t be added to your list. They can be only added via the signup form.
