# Interest-based popup

This template contains elements from the Web channel, which means it allows you to operate on both email subscribers and non-subscribed website visitors.

The **Interest-based popup** template is a simple, highly targeted marketing automation workflow designed to display a sign-up form or message exactly where user interest is highest.

With just two simple elements, it allows you to deliver highly relevant messages in a non-intrusive way, directly tailored to what the visitor is viewing.

It’s ideal for:

* capturing leads with compelling signup forms tied to product interest
* offering incentives (like discounts or bonuses) at key touchpoints
* promoting time-sensitive offers or upcoming events such as webinars

Here’s what you’ll need to configure the elements and publish the template as a workflow:

* [WebConnect](https://www.getresponse.com/help/what-is-web-connect-and-how-can-i-use-it.html) installed on your site,
* [pop-up](https://www.getresponse.com/help/how-do-i-create-a-popup-using-a-template.html) (but you can also create a new one while configuring the flow).

Configuring the template
------------------------

All greyed-out elements need to be configured. Click an element to open its **Properties** tab.

1. The workflow starts with the **Visited URL** condition. Select the domain you want to track (the list shows domains with Web Connect installed). To specify the exact page that should activate the automation, you can add a URL path or include URL parameters. [Learn more about configuring the **Visited URL** condition.](https://www.getresponse.com/help/how-to-use-the-visited-url-condition-web-channel.html)
**Note:** We recommend using precise targeting via **URL parameters** in the first element’s properties to make the most of this element.
2. Configure the **Show popup** action, where you can customize the message to match the content of the visited page – ideal for sign-up incentives, webinar invitations, or limited-time offers. You can choose an existing pop-up or create a new one. By default, **Run multiple times** is disabled for the popup action, so each visitor will see it only once.
