We're having same broadcast delivery issues as many of the other members here.

Also, I posted a message last week Tuesday:

Posted 2006-07-25 04:42:11 by Andrew
Subject line: 'Exported names contain incorrect characters'
Pertaining to campaign 'kel_partou_01_06'.

You said the techies would get back to me, but I haven't received any word...

Hello Andrew,

I apologize for the delay in response time.

The export feature has been investigated and
the names are not exported properly as the
character encoding that you have set in your
campaign is Latin-1. Please change it to UTF-8
and try to export the list then. The names
should be displayed properly with all French
diacritics.

As per the broadcasts, our database has experienced
unnaturally high load and that is why the delay
has increased. Our technicians have already
increased the speed of sending and all possible
servers were activated to their full capacity to
send the qeueu.

Also, in the broadcasts section we have displayed
the warning that the delay will may last 24 hours.

I sinceraly apologize for any inconveniences this
might be causing you.

Best regards,

Hi, thanks for the response.

However if I change the campaign encoding to UTF-8, the emails that get sent show strange characters when using french characters etc..

The exports that export with strange characters is not a huge deal as a simple find and replace rectifies things. I'm just curious as to how Topica manage to handle all the character encoding ...when we were a customer with them we never once had to set any character encoding options, and everything just worked.

Hello Andrew,

I am not able to advise on Topica.

Perhaps the best option would be to turn on the
UTF-8 feature only when you are exporting the
file once in a while and for the rest of the time
it stays the way you need.

I am afraid that there is nothing we may apply
here in order to make the characters look fine
in exported file. I hope you find this solution
viable.

Best regards,
