I see that GetResponse makes a big deal about it's ability to let you add your own domain, which is something that it's main competitors don't do - and fair enough - I agree that it's a nice touch.

BUT, you have the GetResponse.com name in all the message templates.

So what's the point?

The whole idea of offering domain personalization is - according to you - that it "increases your email deliverability, boosts your response rates and builds credibility and brand awareness"

Surely, if you want to offer your clients this advanced personalization, it is crazy to then ruin all that good work and put GetResponse.com in the message templates?

I find it all very frustrating - I'd quite like to sign up with you - but after comparing with a competitor who doesn't allow domain personalization, I actually find the overall impression with them is better.

Although the company name is in the URL of the unsubscribe link - it is less intrusive there than being written in the main content of the message.

Hello Steve,

The GetResponse.com will be cloaked in the removal
link, once you assign a domain name.

The domain name that you assign to your account, will
be used in the tracking, confirmation and removal links.

Examples:

* Removal link

Before:
To stop further mailings or to change your details visit:
http://getresponse.com/r/...

After:
To stop further mailings or to change your details visit:
http://yourdomain.com/r/...

* Tracking link

Before:
http://getresponse.com/t/...

After:
http://yourdomain.com/t/...

The domain cannot be used instead of @getresponse.com
part in the campaign name, i.e. you have campaign 'cars'
so people need to send the email to cars@getresponse.
com not cars@your_domain.com.

Best Regards,

Hi

I'm not referring to the getresponse.com domain showing up in the removal or tracking links - I know my domain will be substituted for that - I'm referring to the main text that appears in the message templates.

For example, your default template starts with ...

--------------------------------------------

Hello [[firstname]],

We have received your request for a
subscription to a mailing list maintained by
GetResponse email marketing service.

----------------------------------------------

All of your templates have either GetResponse or GetResponse.com somewhere in the main message text.

The ONLY reason any of your customers is interested in domain personalization is because they want it to appear to their subscribers that their list is being managed by them - not outsourced to a third party provider.

So I repeat - why offer us this feature which gives us the possibility to 'brand' our list as our own - and then ruin it by unnecessarily including the GetResponse name in the message.

There is NO point in offering domain personalization, unless you also include a template option that does not mention GetResponse

Hello Steve,

You can have your subscribers redirected to your
own confirmation page, if you provide your own
Confirmation Url.

When you are creating the html code for a webform,
you will submit the url in the box provided.

If you wish to show people your own site once they
click on the confirmation link in the confirmation
message, you can set this up in your campaign set-
tings.

If click tracking is enabled in your campaign settings,
this will show the GetResponse link. Your links will
look like: http://www.GetResponse.com/t/number.
This is so that you can monitor clickthroughs.

Best Regards,

Hi

I know that I can set it up so that the confirmation link will take people to my site - that's not what I'm talking about.

Please forget about the links you include in messages - and where those links take you if you click them - I'm not talking about that.

I'm talking about the fact that GetResponse is mentioned in the main message text - I gave you an example above.

Hello Steve,

I apologize for misunderstanding. I assumed
you were referring to the thank you page.

I'm afraid you may not edit our confirmation
message templates. Please either choose one
of the templates available and add your own
text or simply disable double opt-in feature so
that confirmation message is not sent. This is
available to PRO account users.

If you wish to disable double opt-in feature
please go to Campaign Settings >> Subscribers
>> #3.Opt-in Settings. Once you finish click
"Save".

Please note that we require all Imported sub-
scribers to be confirmed. Then we are able to
dispute the spam complaints on your behalf,
and provide the proof, that the subscriber
agreed to receive information from you.

Thanks

I knew that I wouldn't be able to edit the confirmation message templates - and I would have to use them, because I want double opt in.

I was hoping you would explain why the GetResponse name is included in all the templates - because that completely ruins the domain personalization feature.

Do you agree that with the current confirmation message templates available, it is impossible to 'brand' the service as our own?

Hello Steve,

This is the GetResponse policy, to include the sending
service name in such mailings. I referred this on to
my manager and this cannot be changed.
