de-duplication of email addresses on broadcast

Dear helpful folks,

When I send a broadcast and include multiple lists, is there a behind-the-scene deduplication process so that people are not getting multiple copies of a message if they are on several of my lists with the same email address?

If it is not automatically done, is there a manual method to do this? Thanks for the help,
