UK Theatre Network - On the road to Cannes
-
I'm off to Cannes, hence the early newsletter. I fly tomorrow morning and it's a 5am start, so have a great weekend where you are and I'll catch up with you next week. There's a full magazine already this week with great theatre reviews around the country. And tune in online to my radio blog if you get a minute. I'm relaxing this year from the usual hectic schedule of filming, photography and reviewing that I've been doing for the last few years. This year the focus is on meeting and greeting and a lot of relaxing in the sun.

Arcola Theatre, arcolatheatre.com, 06-30 May 2009 8pm 02075031646
Cast: Lucy Ellison, Jeremy Killick, Victoria Pratt, Sandy Grierson
Harnessing the voyeuristic aspects of the media coverage in the aftermath of toddler Jamie Bulger’s murder, Niklas Rådström’s play constantly questions the audience’s reflexive reactions to the events that took place on 12 February 1999

Chocolate Factory Productions in conjunction with the Churchill Theatre Bromley present
Little Shop of Horrors
Based on the film by Roger Corman Screenplay by Charles Griffiths
This is a truly spectacular production that is a must see. The set is superb consisting of the house and store fronts which construct the corner of skid row where Mushnik’s flower shop can be found.

Sound Dust presents 'Invisible Storms'....Cock Tavern, Kilburn until May 30
Review by: Nicola Hollinshead
Having opted to see a new show INVISIBLE STORMS with the premise of it being based around the topical theme of 'climate change', I must admit didn't fill me with too much exitement, but this surprising production at Kilburn's Cock Tavern is a real gem...

Jane McDonald In Concert
Published by: Steve Burbridge
Jane McDonald In Concert
The City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne
It seems like the synopsis of a rags-to-riches romantic novel – a working class club singer lands a job on a luxury cruise liner, is spotted by a television crew, and makes the big time. In fact, it is the amazing true story of one of this country’s best-loved songstresses, Jane McDonald.

Wuthering Heights
Review by: Louise Winter
Northern Ballet Theatre
Wuthering Heights
Directed by David Nixon
Reviewed by Louise Winter at Milton Keynes Theatre on Tuesday 5th May 2009.
2009 is the 40th anniversary of NBT and David Nixon’s first creation for the company, Wuthering Heights, has been revived for this celebration. This is one of the greatest literary love stories and well suited to NBT’s narrative style. The sweeping score of Claude-Michel Schönberg, the choreography of Nixon and the perfect performances of the artists make this a really splendid production; passionate, exciting, lyrical, and ultimately deeply moving.
