A very warm welcome if you are new to the newsletters and
YO!, if you are a regular reader.

Each week I write a little opener and every time I surprise myself when I think back about the week that was.

The Channel 4 events were both thought provoking and great for networking. Did you go ?  It was posted in Training and Workshops at the beginning of the month. I was about to go home after I had blogged a picture to you and then I thought I'll go back and see if I can say hello to Claire Sweeney. She may have remembered me from the filming we did in Glasgow. I couldn't see her but then Andy Duncan , Chief Executive of Channel 4, came walking towards me. Hello, I said, delighted to meet you, and we continued chatting for 10 minutes. With all the Big Brother stories going on, it was interesting to hear how he had to personally get involved in the production to manage the political and media turmoil that ensued. A big responsibility and I don't think he can win, one way or another.

Of course, I took the opportunity to tell him more about UK Theatre Network and the projects we do here and he was impressed and asked me to send him an email with some details. It was just another weird situation of being in the right place at the right time, which I seem to have had my fair share of this year. Do you create your own luck, or does luck just happen ?  Richard Wiseman has some answers but I think it's a bit of both and a sprinkling of serendipity.

The UK Theatre reviewers continue to keep busy, if you are near Liverpool, Noises Off is a MUST. I remember taking loads of my friends and family to it a few years ago because it has such a wide appeal to make EVERYONE laugh.  Andrew Liddle says:

"They don't come any more side-splittingly hysterical than this brilliant revival".

Helen Oakleigh has been at The Globe enjoying the new season there and I hope to join her later this month. She said "The Globe is such a marvellous theatre to watch a play in". Read the In Extremis review here

In Glasgow, Cameron Lowe has been going to the opera to see Aida, and Jon Cuthbertson has been taking in Alan Bennett's Office Suite which both close tonight, so hurry and get some last minute tickets from the details in the reviews.

I received some interesting casting news this week. Shrek and the Donkey !  I know, I have the perfect accent for Shrek but my head isn't THAT big and I'm not in LA.  Back in the UK, there's a last minute opportunity in the 24:7 Manchester Fringe Festival and also one from a UK Theatre Networker in Cincinnati looking for someone to produce Vatican Falls in the UK. If you are looking to travel, Flying Fish are looking for actors in Germany.

Look out for Mark Saunders' articles at the bottom of this bulletin and a workshop from Sprout.

Have a great weekend and a fantastic week ahead, who knows what it may bring for us but if UK Theatre is involved, it's sure to be entertaining.
