UK Theatre Network - From Hollywood to Cannes
March 24th, 2007 at 5:43 am
Good day to you, Friend
9am on a Saturday morning. I always enjoy getting up early to
tell you all about the options you have to entertain yourself
this weekend, and as ever, you don't have to look very far to
find it. The reviewers, marketers, promoters, directors and cast
of the UK's finest theatre performances have already published
their articles online at UKTheatre.Net
All I need to do is cut and paste and tidy up an email and send
it out to around 10,000 people at a click of a button. How simple
can theatre marketing get ? Of course it took many
years to find 10,000 theatre lovers around the UK, but
nevertheless you're here now, and hopefully telling lots of
others.
In addition to theatre, I know that you really like great
performances in all formats, whether that's standup, gigs, TV,
ballet, opera - so, I've been working hard
recently to bring you a new series of 5
minute video features.
Coming soon, I have the musical delight of Josh Groban,
intense drama from Julie Walters and Kirsten Dunst, new
comedy from Daniel Ribgy from Lilies and an insight to the
talents of Stephanie Waring from Hollyoaks. If that's not enough
to whet your appetite, there's clips of Life On Mars and The
Royal Ballet.
It's all part of a regular series that I'll be producing,
directing, filming, writing, editing and publishing for your
viewing pleasure. I will include material from members of UK
Theatre Network. If you have an upcoming performance and
have accompanying video material, then let me know. I
am also considering sponsorship and advertising, in order to help
fund the productions.
Ooh.....and I forgot to mention. I entered my first short
film "MAKING IT IN HOLLYWOOD" into Cannes. I can hardly
believe it, but I'm delighted that I took the jump. The key
message in the film is to get out and make it ! Whether
that's in acting, presenting, coaching, voice overs, directing or
producing. Everyone I interviewed were taking the bull
by the horns and getting out and doing it. It's all about
the experience you gain and learning from that to improve
your next performance, or next production, and the
sooner you start the quicker you'll learn.
Exciting times. Have a great weekend.
