Hello Friend I was just reflecting this week what a fantastic time I had at the fringe this year. It was the first year that I applied for press accreditation which took significant effort and a bit of getting used to the processes in place, but it was a very useful learning curve. Our filming was also great fun, though again it's not for the faint hearted with the significant scheduling required to get a time which suits the performers and available crew. I was delighted however with the support from the UKTN film crew and reviewers who I have worked with for about two years now and who rise to challenge for the benefit of UK Theatre Network members and visitors. Some of the clips have had over 1000 views from my YouTube and MySpace friends in addition to the views at UKTheatre.TV. Next year, we will be returning to each of the Manchester, London and Edinburgh Festivals and we will be looking at a few more. This is in addition to a major project which I tried to get off the ground this year but I got caught up with trying to sell the idea to BBC, C4 and C5 (who all incidentally liked it but had their own agenda). I will be looking for some part-time voluntary assistance from someone with fundraising, advertising or sponsorship experience, as well as building a team of performers, theatre directors and stage crew in each of Manchester, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It's a 12 month project so quite ambitious but it will be a lot of fun and will take filming of theatre to the next level. Now, as if this wasn't enough, I have had two excellent offers to setup in Australia and Hollywood. Two well-connected and talented individuals have offered their services to build the network in these two key places and I was delighted to accept their kind offer. I should have these off the ground by the end of the year. In October, I plan to get UKGigs.TV off the ground and UK Theatre Network members will get full access to this new area of the site which will have it's own Editor and review teams. Similarly, UKFilm.TV has got off the ground with Chris Patmore the only current reviewer but I'm hoping to attract more soon. Finally, I now have a 2-year management deal with a mobile phone distributor for O2 and T-Mobile which opens up the distribution of content to a younger audience. Just for your information, our members are growing at around 50 per week at the moment largely due to the media coverage in The Times, The Stage, CE Week (front cover) and .Net and I'm hoping that many of the journalists I spoke to before we had delivered, will be able to see our capability and give UKTheatre.Net a mention in their newspapers and websites. I moved house to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond but I can't get reasonable broadband so I'm struggling a little with uploading some of articles, films and press releases. However, our Platinum members and reviewers have full access to upload and you should see more content from them in the coming weeks until I get going again.
Have a great week where you are. Email me your thoughts
and comments or if you want to get involved with some
of the projects.
