Back in London.
"Making It In Hollywood" took off in Cannes and
the next phase of filming is in the can, as
they say.
There are some good red carpet close-ups and
extreme close-ups of Jude Law, Jake Gyllenhaal,
Leonardo DiCaprio, Toni Collette, Stephen
Frears, Nora Jones to name drop but a few. As
well as more quality interviews with a writer,
a composer and a director, we were able to get
footage of Jessica Simpson who has a new movie
"Major Movie Star". The theme fitted so nicely
with the "Making It In Hollywood" that you may
think I designed it that way.
It was all serendipity as usual.
We happened to speak to someone who pointed us
in a direction we never thought we'd take, and
then stumbled, coincidentally, into the middle
of a press event. I gave the PR crew my details
and guerillia filmmaking took over. I did a
piece to camera and then my colleague Kevin
Clark and I got in amongst the paparazzi. It's
very exciting when it gets going and the
bodyguards were sharp as ever, calming some of
the more assertive photographers, who despite
getting significant time to take lots of
pictures, continued to do so while the film
crew were filming. As you probably know
flashlight with video doesn't look
good.
A last minute problem with one of our cameras
in Scotland, meant that my camera went back to
Edinburgh with Kevin who had it picked up and
taken over to Glasgow for the first night of
the Indiana Gregg concerts. It's getting off
the ground as we speak thankfully after that
last minute hitch. It's an acoustic set but it
also features a violin quartet from the Royal
Scottish National Orchestra. The sound should
be great as it is being recorded in the studio
live. We will then link that with the images on
two cameras, edit with two other concerts which
I will be going to this week, and then create
some Five Minute Features which you can watch
exclusive online at UKGigs.TV
In the meantime, here's some of the Cannes
blogs in case you missed them. I will get more
high definition stills on Thursday when I get
my camera back and upload them there. If you
want to be reminded when they go up, just send
an email to alerts@ukfilm.tv
