1. C is for creativity
When you are stuck, use your creativity you can let go of assumptions and think of different ways to succeed.
You could challenge your assumptions by asking yourself:
- 'on what evidence do I think so and so?'
- If I did something different what might be the worst thing which could happen?
- If that person didn't approve or like what I do, what might be the worst thing which would happen then?
- What's really stopping me doing what I want?
If you can only think of one way forward then try a technique such as visualisation or day-dreaming, - just relax and then let your mind drift as you imagine yourself already in the new situation which you want. Notice how you look, how you behave, your posture, your expression and so on. Then start to do some of those in your life now.
If fear is a factor- ask yourself what are you really frightened of?
What resource do you need to succeed? If you need, for example, confidence, then think of a time when you felt really, really confident. Recall how you felt and when the feeling is very strong then 'anchor' it by pressing your index finger and thumb together. Repeat this several times so that you condition yourself to respond with confidence whenever you press your finger and thumb together.
Creativity is also improved when you take some time each week to engage in an activity such as painting, drawing, playing music, singing, or writing. If you used to love doing one or more of these but are too busy these days, then commit to a short time, say half an hour each week, and experience again the pleasure of being totally absorbed in one of these activities.
2. Hypnotherapy
In the last edition of PULSE POINTS I asked for 5 volunteers to try hypnotherapy.
Thanks to all who were interested in this. Take a look at www.hypnotherapybyphone.co.uk
If you would like a short 'taster' and also read what my clients experienced.
I now have a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy so offer hypnotherapy as an added bonus to clients during coaching, if appropriate.
