Dear Friend,
First of all I wanted to let you know that if you have
recently placed your order for The Pit Bull Training Handbook
your book will be shipped out this week by priority mail
(average 2-3 days delivery time).
Okay, now on to the business at hand. I received
an email from a friend of mine about a story
that involved Cocoa Mulch.
Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by the Hershey company
here in the US and despite the lack of warning labels
on the product itself this mulch is *highly toxic to dogs.*
Sadly, it was too late for a loving owner of two lab mixes.
One of her dogs decided to eat the mulch and after vomiting
the dog showed no problem signs. That is until the next day.
She was walking her dog when the dog had a seizure and
died on the spot.
The mulch smells like chocolate and attracts dogs
to it. By nature dogs *love* sweet food items. Hence
the reason Anti-freeze is so appealing to them even
though it's deadly. It has a sweet taste and dogs love
sweet tastes.
Again, the product does not have a warning label on
it. Here is what the company has to say about the
problem...
"It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs
that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a
variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog).
However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."
How do they know that 98% of the dogs won't
eat it? What scientific test did they run? How
many dogs were subjected to potential death
to come to the conclusion that 98% of them
won't eat it?
Better safe than sorry if you ask me.
From this statement you can see that they want
to distance themselves and they don't care
about your dogs health one bit.
With all "warnings" I don't think you should panic
about this, but if you have purchased this mulch,
replace it immediately. If you haven't, don't.

Stay safe this summer and keep your dogs cool,
exercised and have some fun!
Best Regards,
Jason, Angel CGC, Honey and Patch
