Dear Friend,
You may or may not be aware of the recent hoopla in
Denver. A man had 38 of his dogs taken from him while
he was in Denver.
Now, from the reports that I have seen the guy was not
a stand up guy but the important thing I wanted to pass
on is the fact the dogs are now in a shelter there in
Denver
and are reportedly not getting taken care of like they
should.
I can not confirm these reports with documented facts but
I do have some contact information for you at the end of
this email so you can get more information and write to
the appropriate folks to voice your own concerns and
opinions.
I also understand the man might be able to get his dogs
back but is subject to fines and possible jail time. These
fines and jail time bring up another point I want to share
with you.
If you are going on vacation and you are taking your dogs
do NOT travel through Denver.
They can take your dogs even if you are passing through
and you are subject to...are you ready?
$999 fine PER DOG
90 Days in Jail PER DOG.
Now I want to make this clear, these laws apply to you
even if you are PASSING THROUGH. You don't have to
be a resident. If you are driving through Denver and
are caught with your dog, they can take your dog from
you and you are subject to the above fines and jail
time.
Do not complain to me about this please. I know. I
understand
and I am appauled by it like you are. Well, I'm a little
more
than appauled by it but for this email I'm going to keep it
rated G for all ages.
My point here is, be careful. Be aware of the laws in
areas you travel through because most of these areas
will enact their laws on you as if you lived there.
When in their districts, observe their laws.
If their local law says you have to muzzle your dog
while in public, bring a muzzle and do it. The other
option is to ignore the laws and end up with a fine,
jail time and/or the loss of your dog.
It's not worth it. Especially if you are only passing
through. If you live in such areas write to your
government, talk to lawyers, and start taking
action against these ordinances.
They are unconstitional, unfair, and based on lies,
hype and myths.
Together we can work to improve the situation but
we have to do it right. Knowing the laws will help
you.
Look up the local city web sites you plan on traveling
through and look up "dog ordinances+Pit Bulls" to
get more information on their dog laws.

Write to these folks and voice your concerns and
try to get the word out about these dogs.
Again, I can not confirm their condition and I do
not have proof they are not being cared for but
I have heard scattered reports that say they are
not getting proper care by the Denver shelter officals.
Best Regards,
