Scratch that, Pit Bulls around the nation and around the world need your help. Over the past few years I have been helping rescue organizations around the world through direct donations from proceeds from PitBullLover.com and my own pocket. While I do what I can it's simply not enough. One evening, after donating to a rescue out in California, I was sitting there thinking about how the proceeds will be used. I have gotten pictures from this rescue of dogs playing with new Kongs my donations helped buy. Honestly, it was an awesome feeling knowing they got a new toy, a new blanket, a chance for being trained to help them get adopted, all of these things brought such joy to my heart that I immediately had an idea. The idea started out as a small "seed" and after several weeks went by it grew into a giant Oak of an idea. What was the idea and Why are you getting this email from me? Everyday thousands of perfectly health Pit Bulls are put to sleep because they are what they are and because the animal care system in the United States is not designed to take care of these dogs. A little known fact was the Human Society was set up for strays. Not owner drop off's and to this day the situation is the same. Resources are given to the dogs THEY feel are the most adoptable. They also focus more on strays and devote more resources to them than they do owner releases. Knowing this and seeing the effects of what a simple $5, $10, $20 donation can accomplish I thought, what would $50,000, $500,000 or a whopping $1,000,000 do? We waste money daily. All you have to do is turn on the TV and watch a reality show to see the proof. $350,000 homes for two people while MILLIONS go homeless around the world. $350,000 would build a lot of nice homes for 15-20 families. Yet we waste it for enterainment and advertising. After much thought and consideration the idea spawned action. The action: Set up a non-profit fund raising organization for Pit Bull Rescues around the world. The Goal: To raise $1,000,000 for Pit Bull rescues around the world and donate the proceeds to their programs to help them place the homeless dogs in their programs. The Result: http://www.ProjectPitBull.org We need your help. Personally I will not stand back and pretend the problem is not mine or that it doesn't exist. Will you? Take a moment and visit the Project Pit Bull site at http://www.ProjectPitBull.org and learn how you can help Pit Bulls in need. One of the questions I get almost on a daily basis is about rescue and how to get involved. This is how you get involved. This is how you start. This is how you make a difference. Right now, right here, right at this moment you can make a difference. Everytime I think about Pit Bulls in need one of my favorite quotes comes to mind... "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. " --- Mohandas Gandhi While I'm not Gandhi, nothing could be more true than the words he spoke in regards to a nations animals.
