OPTIONSMART MORNING UPDATE: Underpinned by rising commodity prices
1. OUTLOOK: The chip industry, drived by Applied Materials (AMAT) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), led the tech sector higher. Reportedly, Microsoft (MSFT) is developing a small tablet-style PC to rival a similar product that may be launched by Apple (AAPL). Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) closed the day with gains of 1.4% after the company was upgraded to “outperform” by Credit Suisse. However, HPQ looks deeply overbought in the short- term. The steady move up is creating anxiety in investors that they are missing out. U.S.futures point to a neutral open.
