Friend, Here's the Teleseminar Update and Study Sheet!
-
The Teleseminar is Scheduled for Next Week!
Dear Friend,
Just wanted you to know that the Teleseminar scheduled for this weekend had to be postponed until next weekend.
As you may know, I moved last weekend, and my phone lines/jacks will not be installed until next Friday, the 9th of October.
But don't worry, I've attached a Study Sheet.
The attachment will undoubtedly open your eyes as to the best way for YOU to assure your success in learning to play the piano.
You basically you have two options:
- The Figured Bass Notation, or
- The Chord Symbol Notation.
I will go in to detail at the seminar. But for now, just print out the attachment and listen to the audio clip.
You should be familiar with this song, popularized by The Jackson 5 in the late 60's or early 70's.
If You Can't Ready Music, Don't Frustrate Yourself by Trying to Read the Notes... Use Your Ears to Sing the Melody and Play the Chords YOUR WAY!
The song is in the Key of Bb Major.
Here's the Bb Major Scale: Bb C D Eb F G A (It has two flats!)
You will notice that I've indicated the chord changes on top and the "figured bass" notation on the bottom.
I trust you remember your Roman Numerals.
OK here we go...
- The first chord in the first measure is Bb Major. Because we're in the key of Bb Major, Bb is notated as Roman Numeral I.
- The second measure, is an F Major Chord with A in the bass. Now look up above review the Bb Major Scale. F is the 5th scale step of the Bb Major Scale, it is notated as Roman Numeral V.
- The third chord in the 3rd measure is G minor. The G is 6th scale step in Bb Major. Therefore, it is notated as Roman Number vi.
Now that should be enough for you to start analyzing the song yourself. This is why I've always "preached" to you about learning your scales.
You don't have to play them, but you had better know the notes to build the chords!
Friend, this is the fastest way to learn your chords and start playing IMMEDIATELY!
Now, I understand that everyone learns differently... but you have to try both methods. I prefer the Figured Bass concept, because it's easier to play songs in ANY key, because you know the scale steps that the chords are derived from. ALL YOU HAVE TO KNOW IS THE SCALE!
I will send an email next week, advising you of the time and date of the Teleseminar.
To your success,
Ron
P.S. The audio file was produced through MIDI... so it doesn't have a feel. I expect you to play the song your way... your STYLE... with feel!
