------------------------------- Today's Pond Q&A In this issue: - VERY LARGE POND - HOW DO I KEEP IT CLEAN? ----------------------------- Question> We plan to construct a very large pond. 300,000 to 400,000 gal. It will include an artificial stream of approx 250 feet with a total drop of about 100 ft. @ 300 gal per minute and two waterfalls of approximately 15-20 ft.ea. It may also have an aeration fountain in the lake. The pond and the streambed will be liner & concrete. Possibly a few fish, but needs to be clear to about 8 ft in depth. I think with all that activity, it should be sufficiently aerated. With the liner and concrete, I don't anticipate much sediment. The pond is in the San Diego, CA area. My feelings on it would be to use a series of large settling chambers (vortex chambers) due to the surface area of the pond and normal environmental pollution such as dust, pollen, and anything else that might be airborne and land in your pond. Your pond will become the biological filtration in time with use of the Microbe-Lift products. I am also forwarding this to Brett Fogle for his input on a filter recommendation in case he has a bubblebead to suggest. Good luck on the pond!
