1: Quick Intro:

I've been away for the past week volunteering at a T. Harv Eker
personal development camp called "Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold".

I've met the woman I'm going to marry.

To say the least, I've been in a great mood for the past two
weeks. Things are much clearer for me now and a move to the
west coast of Canada is in short order. I'm moving to Vancouver.

The food at the camp was advertised as "vegetarian" but alas it
was "oceanarian" in that it included fish. I dropped 5 pounds
and 3% bodyfat during the past two weeks and I'm sure it was
mostly due to the food and activity level at the camp.

Women always seem to calm me down too. Life just gets easier
for me. You've gotta like that.

Last months contest was won by Tim Pynes of Englewood, CO a
former college football player and this months contest is
open again.

Until next time

2. What Are You Willing To Do
... to achieve your health, fat loss and fitness goals?

by Rob Cooper, BTDT

What are you willing to pay for food?

The quality of the food you put in your body is directly
proportional to the quality of your cells. It's your cells that
create energy and make your various bodily systems run, and if
they're given the best quality food, then they're able to
regenerate and be healthy.

Conversely, low quality food creates a low quality cell. A low
quality cell is not up to the demand of generating energy nor
the proper removal of wastes which then results in sickness and
disease.

In conversation with a fellow on his food program and how he
could make corrections to his diet to improve his health, burn
fat and improve his workouts, I suggested a few "new" products
to him. Oatmeal, some whole grain wraps, spring mix salad, and
Essential Fatty Acid, Almond butter and whole grain basmati rice
were a few places to begin. I gave him the name of a local whole
food store where he could pick up the items and then followed up
with him the next day.

"You didn't tell me how expensive it was going to be!" was his
response.

Well, I don't consider it expensive, so I would not have said
that it was.

When I began my journey from 475 pounds down to a healthy, lean
240, I incorporated a wide variety of organic whole foods,
juices, pure clean water and various Chinese whole food
concentrates. I got immediate results which then further
supported my decision to continue with what I was doing and the
costs involved. The benefits far outweighed the cost of some
good quality food. Now, fifteen years later, it's such a
lifestyle for me that I don't even think twice about it.

Our cells are our power plants in our body. Our body is
constantly rebuilding itself daily and hourly. Our skeleton
replaces itself once a year and the muscular lining of our
stomach and our intestines is replaced every 3 to 4 days!

Dr. James R. Douglas, a well known Canadian Chiropractor says
this about the process of regeneration

"If we look in a mirror, our body seems to be the same from day
to day. The truth is that the body is more like a river than
something static. Our body is constantly being rebuilt and
repaired. The process is under the direction of our inner
intelligence, (present everywhere in our body) which is far
superior to any outside intelligence. The rebuilding that goes
on in our body is truly astounding. 98% of the atoms in our
cells were not there a year ago. The working or first contact
cells on the surface of our digestive system, from the stomach
to the large bowel are replaced every 5 minutes. This means
hundreds of millions of cells are quietly being released from
our body every hour. The muscular lining of our stomach and our
intestines is replaced every 3 to 4 days. Our gums are replaced
every two weeks. This replacement is cell for cell. Old cells
wear out, and new cells are produced.

The enzymes and the chemicals that flow through our liver make a
new liver every five months. The taste buds in our mouth are
replaced every 10 days. We have a new covering of skin every
four weeks. The chemistry of our genes is replaced constantly.

Nothing in our chemical genetic environment was there a year
ago. The pattern of our genes is very constant, but the chemical
molecules that make up the structure are constantly replaced.

The quality of cell replacement determines the quality or length
of our life, barring accidents, and at the same time, the
quality of our life, is expressed in our feelings. Our feelings
are actually produced by the hormones and other chemicals
produced by our cells."

According to Dr. Douglas, "the quality of the enzymes we consume
significantly influences the quality of the chemicals produced
by our cells. We can think of a gene in a cell as an orchestra
conductor. The enzymes produce tones under the direction of the
gene conductor. The quality of the tones whether physical or
emotional is dependent upon the quality of the enzymes
available.

Our body does the best job of rebuilding it can, with the raw
materials we feed it. Improve the raw materials and regeneration
is improved. Over time, lack of the proper raw materials can
lead to disharmony or disease. That is why the Chinese say
hunger and disease are the same thing."

3. Are You Overtraining In The Gym?
by Gary Matthews, the "Trainer from Down Under"
http://www.formerfatguy.com/muscle/weightgain/overtraining.asp

Twenty years ago I was very influenced by the bodybuilders and the training systems of the day. Hitting the weights five or six times a week, splitting upper and lower body workouts and working out twice a day was seen as normal.

Every set was taken to positive failure, with three or more forced reps on top of that and if that wasn't enough I would throw in a few negative reps to top it off. This type of training would leave me totally exhausted and render me sore for days after every session.

The constant battering to my body lowered my immune system and I would always be sick or injured. I would take time off training and then go back to it again, all the time gaining nothing in size or strength.

Can you imagine years and years of hard work like this all for nothing. The sad reality is that I still see it going on around me now? The cold hard facts are that over 80% of the regular trainees in your gym are overtraining. That's right, 80%, disturbing isn't it?

Traditional training techniques like volume training are ineffective and downright dangerous, having been passed down from the previous training generations and unquestionably followed at all costs.

The only people making any progress on these systems are the so called 'bodybuilding stars' who have superb genetics (about 2% of the general population) and are taking massive amounts of steroids (very expensive and dangerous).

So please don't fall into the same overtraining trap as many others have, if you haven't made any gains for a long time now and maybe suffer from one or more of the symptoms found below stop!! Stop wasting your time and effort for nothing.

* Reoccurring colds and sickness
* Sore joints and muscles
* Unwillingness to go to the gym to train.
* Loss of appetite
* Insomnia
* Chronic fatigue

Put a stop to overtraining by understanding that the two main components of strength training are the intensity of the exercise and the recovery after the exercise.

Infrequent, short, high intensity weight training sessions, followed by the required amount of time to recover and become stronger is what is needed to increase functional muscle size and stop overtraining.

Have a look at some scientific principles found below and practice them in the gym and you will be on the road to greater gains in muscle size without the problem of overtraining.

Read the rest of the article where Gary discusses keeping
your workouts simple, progressive overload, training frequency, overcompensation and exercise selection for intensity.

4. Tip

10 Best Foods For Women!
by John McGran

Each month, I'll provide a new tip from John's List.

10. Bean There, Done That. Beans should be included in
everyone's diet -- they're nutritious, low in fat and are cheap
to boot. Be a good bean counter and check out the fiber in
beans. There's over 5 grams of fiber in one measly half-cup
serving -- that's a whopping fourth of your daily allowance.
Pretty good, huh? Even better when you consider that a fiber-
rich diet is one of the first components to colon cancer
prevention. And with more women dying of colon cancer than
breast cancer every year, you've just gotta bring on the beans!

Quit Drinking Coffee and Tea...

For those eliminating or wanting to eliminate coffee
or tea from your diet, I recommend a whole food
beverage offered by Sunrider called Calli. Shao-lin
temple priests ate this formula of whole food herbs
as a salad for it's ability to improve mental clarity
and improved concentration.

Now available in a concentrated whole food beverage,
Calli is alkaline in nature and has less caffeine than
a carrot.

Calli can aid digestion and by it's alkaline nature,
less impurities are likely to be absorbed or retained
from normal digestion.
