Thinking is the hardest thing you can do

If you call me about your job search, you'll probably ask me, "What do you think I should do next?

I welcome the question. My job is thinking about improving jobs and job searches. I think about your question every single day. I set aside time to think about your question.

    Here's how I THINK

I take a sheet of paper. Write the date and time at the top. Next I write a question. It is always related to your job or job search. Then I spend at least 15 minutes writing down ideas. I like to come up with at least 3 ideas. Usually I come up with 10. I make notes about each idea.

I act on only a few ideas. Those ideas always make a difference. Whether I get an actionable idea or not, my creative juices have started flowing. I find that for the rest of the day I come up with new ideas, explore new possibilities, and get more done.

Feel free to ask me what I think you should do. Also take the time to think about what you should do yourself.

My 11 hour series on how to get a job is availble at www.agicc.com/job-search-training.htm . It goes through step by step instructions on how to prove your accomplishments on a resume and in an inteview.
