  Risk getting people mad

  • If you fear making anyone mad, then you ultimately probe for the lowest common denominator of human achievement.  (Jimmy Carter)

    Risk getting people mad

"I just got a job offer.  I'm not sure if I should be upset or happy."  I got that call yesterday.

There were two problems.  1.  She got called back for a second interview with a great company just a few minutes after she got the offer.  2.  The company that made her the offer didn't feel like a good fit.

I told her to ask the company that made her the job offer if she could talk to them again.  That could get the job offer revoked.  It could get them mad.  They might think, "How dare she ask to come back to check US out."

She'll learn something important if they get mad.  She'll also learn something important if they are gracious.

During the next interview, she will ask some very uncomfortable questions.  They may get mad.  Again, she'll find out more from their attitude than from the answers to her questions.

Don't TRY to get people mad.   However, don't let someone's possible anger stop you from asking difficult and important questions.  It is your life.  At the appropriate time, ask the very difficult questions.

    -----------------

Attendance is so low on the Monday calls and so high on the recordings that I'm going to record my answers when I get the questions, and post them.  That will make it easier to search the archives and quickly find the answer to your questions.

My 11 hour series on how to get a job is availble at www.howtoreallygetagreatjob.com . There is an hour just on what your attitude needs to be.  Another seminar on accomplishments goes through step by step instructions on how to prove you are someone special.
