A Christmas Boomlet

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one. (Charles Mackay)

A Christmas Boomlet

Around Halloween I sent out a warning that hiring might be slow. It was. Two weeks ago that changed.

Every day I call up companies and ask if they need help finding employees. For 13 years December was always a slow month for new jobs. This year is different. Starting about 2 weeks ago companies started calling me and asking me to find them new employees. I expect that rush of companies wanting to hire to happen about the 2nd or 3rd week in January, not in December.

That means the Christmas Holiday Season is a very good time to look for a job this year. If you are off a few days next week, spend half of a day, or a full day looking for a job. Go online and check out the job boards. Touch up your resume and send it out to all the companies you admire. Give the recruiters you know a call and see if they have any new places to submit you.

Don't quit your job to look for another one right now. Christmas is not the time to do that. It will still be a few weeks until the companies hire anyone, even if they are looking for new employees.

Go out and look for another job while employers are looking for you.

Something To Do Today

Figure out how to get a few great accomplishments bulleted at the top of your resume where they will make a hiring manager stop and call you. Then send that resume out this week.
