NOW YOU KNOW:

Thank you to all the APSCUF members and students -- hundreds of you -- who took the time to reach out to Chancellor John Cavanaugh and Board Chairman Guido Pichini regarding Governor Corbett’s request to freeze 5 percent (more than $20 million) of the State System's appropriation. At its January meeting, the Board of Governors did not take action on the request, taking into consideration many factors, including the effect on campuses and the impending budget address. Your stories made a difference, but we must continue to educate policymakers about how our students, our campuses and our communities benefit from state investment in PASSHE.

There will be a call-in opportunity on Wednesday, Jan. 25, to support public education and to ask the Governor to INVEST in higher education. We ask you to take a few minutes out of your day to make a call to the Governor’s office (717-787-2500) and to your local elected officials, whom you can find by clicking here. With your help, we can continue to advocate for our students to receive a quality education at an affordable price.

To our students, alumni and friends of the State System, please stay informed over the next few weeks as we learn of the State System’s fate. For our members, please stay engaged and reach out to your chapter mobilization committee chairs for ways to get involved.
