Fête de la musique 2007
As I told you last month France celebrates the beginning of summer with Fête de la musique. Throughout France free music concerts are everywhere. In fact, June 21st the first day of summer, is when Fête de la musique is held. This is the only day in France when everyone and anyone have the right to play music on the street, no permit needed. See photos I took this year.
The Connexion Newspaper
Anyone looking for a newspaper about living in France should
think about subscribing to The Connexion. This monthly
publication has practical information about living in France
along with news stories.
What's really good about The Connexion is its 'American section'
– Americans in France was profiled in the June issue. This
section consists of an editorial by its American reporter and
profiles of an individual and organization along with a practical
article. The June issue had an article about taxes, always
useful.
The Connexion web site is www.connexionfrance.com/.
It's possible to give The Connexion a test drive before
subscribing as you can receive a free copy on request.
Summer Skiing
Yes, you read that right. Not only can you ski in summer you can
practice your French! In February I told you about my learning to
ski in Megeve with Mike Beaudet aka 'Megeve Mike'. Well, Mike's
at it again this time skiing in Cervin (2.5 hr. drive from the
Geneva Airport) next to the Matterhorn. Get ready for skiing this
winter by skiing in the heart of Europe on a glacier.
You can read about summer skiing here and visit
Mike's site.
