Heat Wave
July saw very hot weather in France. Many people thought there
would be another heat wave similar to 2003. As of this writing
the heat wave seems to have broken.
Where we live near Geneva in the French Alps the weather was very
hot for all of July. But once August started things cooled down
and we even got some rain! If this will last is anyone guess, but
right now I\'m not arguing as our recently planted yard could use
the rain.
The last few months have seen some extremes. On June first there
was frost on my wife\'s car window and a month later temperatures
reached the high 90\'s, only to fall back into the high 60\'s two
weeks later.
Ski Megeve France
Yes, I know it is summer but what better way to beat the heat
than think about the winter? Megeve is within an hour\'s drive of
the Geneva Airport in the French Alps. Megeve has over 180 miles
of ski runs. Megeve is great for families as its slopes aren\'t
too difficult so everybody can enjoy themselves, from mom and dad
right down to the kids. Megeve also offers one of the most
magnificent views of the Mont Blanc, from the \"Epaule\"
chairlift.
Megeve is also a charming village with a medieval center – the
streets are paved with cobblestones. The medieval center in the
winter has parts closed off to traffic and replaced by horse
drawn sleds.
Even if that\'s not enough Megeve has one other thing that very
few French ski resorts have, an American skiing instructor - Mike
Beaudet aka \'Megeve Mike.\' Mike is a fully licensed French ski
instructor who will not only make you a better skier but can also
recommend accommodation, arrange your ski material and even make
sure your ski tickets are ready for you on arrival. If you are
interested see Mike\'s site - www.SkiProsMegeve.com.
New Web Site
I\'ve created another airport web site, this time for the Grenoble Airport. Like the other web sites I\'ve created this one is an \'unofficial guide\' about an airport that is served by \'no frills\' airlines - Airport Blu-express, easyJet and Ryanair.
On-Line Group
Anyone interested in exchanging e-mail with others now living or those thinking about moving to France are encouraged to join my Live in France group. This group is open to anyone interested in France. This is a great way to make contacts and receive answers to difficult questions. Newcomers welcome!
