XMarks Farewell

We were stunned yesterday when we got the news from XMarks themselves - that they were pulling the plug on their service - which has proven over time to be a great service:

Here is a copy of the letter we received from them:

Dear Xmarks User,

We've always said we won't email you unless it's important; this is one of those occasions:

Xmarks will be shutting down our free browser synchronization services on January 10, 2011. For details on how to transition to recommended alternatives, consult this page.

For the full story behind the Xmarks shutdown, please read our blog post.

Thank you for being a part of the Xmarks community; we apologize for any inconvenience this step may cause you. We believe we have the best users in the world, and we hope your bookmarks find a new and happy home soon.

Asynchronously,

— The Xmarks Team

I hate seeing this (& so do we)

Yesterday Joe Cooper sent out an email giving a scathing review of the "Auto Mass Traffic" product.

We do not need to add our two cents - Joe Cooper tells it all .....

You probably saw a few emails recently promoting some extremely "hypey" product called "auto mass traffic"

Please don't waste your time or money getting this!

I have unsubscribed from a large majority of IM lists... It's literally only a TINY handful of lists I am left on... this
is why I was so surprised to see some of these folk promoting such a hypey sounding product.

On looking through the sales letter for this product, as expected it was full of nothing but pure rubbish.

When a sales letter calls valid techniques like using Google Adwords and SEO "absolute garbage", then you know they have no idea what they are talking about.

Personally, I currently make about 80% of my business from SEO and Adwords traffic.

These traffic sources alone are bringing in over £25,000 worth of sales each month (something like $40k I guess)...

This is exactly what the sales letter had to say about these techniques:

-----------------------------
"So you see I've tried them all and I can confirm and tell you from my years of experience, these techniques are absolute garbage and they DON'T work..."
-----------------------------

Don't work? If he thinks £25k a month is not working... fine.

The bottom line is this:

If someone has this little idea of what he's talking about, then I find it highly unlikely that their product will do what they claim.

The product is CLAIMING to be a piece of software that you just press a button to receive hundreds of thousands worth of visitors to your website...

Yeah right.

So, I looked into it further, with a few simple searches in google (after filtering out all the blind affiliates for the software, trying to give so called "reviews")

What I discovered was this:

Sure enough, this "magic software" is nothing but a window that tries to get you to buy media buy traffic from a site called "DirectCPV"

This product is designed to just squeeze money from people and then upsell them on more products with monthly fees.

Sure, it's a clickbank product so you can just get a refund... but please don't waste your time too!

Your time is so valuable, and this is something you CAN'T get a clickbank refund for!

12 States in Financial Distress

The single biggest threat to your retirement

Barrack Obama declares war on Fox News

From TopStockAnalysts.com

Even as the national economy manages to stay above water, the local picture is more complex. A number of states are starting to bounce back while other local economies remain under duress.

Compared to a year ago, the employment picture has gotten even worse in 26 states, while conditions have stayed the same or improved in the other states.

For many distressed states and cities, conditions may soon improve, while in other areas, conditions may worsen yet further ....

From Index Universe:

... Inflation is the biggest single enemy to long-term investors.

A portfolio of real return assets balanced with a stock- and bond-heavy 401(k) fund menu is the better way to build a portfolio for an uncertain future.

To do this, one needs to include inflation hedges before inflation strikes and when they are least costly.

Don’t plan for the future by fighting the battle of the past 30 years.

In 1981, the first .....

From Newsmax:

President Barack Obama is blasting Fox News as "destructive," saying the cable channel's point of view is "undeniable."

Obama made his comments in a Rolling Stone article, reports The New York Times, and he said Fox was in tune with legendary newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst and other media giants who expressed a point a view.
