From
Newsmax:
The European debt crisis is gradually
spreading to Spain, and some experts say it
will hit Italy soon enough.
But both nations are in better
financial shape than the United States,
according to former U.S. Comptroller
General David Walker, now head of the
Comeback America Initiative.
"Italy and Spain have a higher rating for
fiscal responsibility and sustainability
under the new Comeback America index than
the U.S.," he tells CNBC. "The question
is... when are the markets going to come
after us?"
With U.S. government debt totaling about
100% of GDP and growing $4 billion a day,
Washington must implement a combination
of spending cuts and tax revenue
increases, Walker says…

From
LewRockwell.com:
The federal government once again has
reached the limit of its legal ability to
borrow money, meaning it cannot issue new
Treasury debt without action by Congress to
increase the debt ceiling limit. As of this
month, our "official" national debt – which
doesn't include the staggering future
payments promised to Social Security and
Medicare beneficiaries – stands at $14.2
trillion.
The debt ceiling law, passed in 1917,
enables Congress to place a statutory cap
on the total amount of government debt,
rather than having to approve each
individual Treasury bond offering. It also,
however, forces Congress into an open and
presumably somewhat shameful vote to
approve more borrowing...

Plan:
The State of Texas is currently considering
legislation that would make it illegal for
any official, State or Federal, to perform
intrusive searches of persons or personal
property without probable cause.
Under Texas Law, HB 1937 would punish,
through criminal prosecution, those
involved in "official oppression by the
intrusive touching of persons seeking
access to public buildings and
transportation…"
In response, the Federal Government
has threatened to essentially enact a
no-fly zone over Texas by restricting
flights out of the state due to security
concerns.
US Attorneys (Federal) object to the
legislation and officially...

Journal:
If this country becomes even more
totalitarian, don't blame Rand
Paul.
After the debate and amendments to the
Patriot Act (Un-Constitutional
Un-Patriot Act) were shut down by a
cloture vote in the Senate late Monday, on
Tuesday Senator Rand Paul carried out a
seven-hour filibuster on the floor of the
Senate to buy time to fight back against
the proposed four-year extension of the
Patriot Act.
Majority Leader
Harry Reid and other leaders in the House
and Senate still don't want to hear
debate or consider amendments to the
bill.
A combination of the Senate's arcane
rules and Sen. Rand Paul's insistence on
voting on several controversial
amendments may cause the Patriot Act
to lapse at the end of the week
(at least for a while), reports
The Hill.
According to The Hill, here is how
Senator Reid is fighting
back...
