From Walter Williams on
LewRockwell.com:
National Transportation Safety Board
Chairwoman Deborah Hersman has called for
states to mandate a total ban on cellphone
usage while driving. She has also
encouraged electronics manufacturers – via
recommendations to the CTIA-The Wireless
Association and the Consumer Electronics
Association – to develop features that
"disable the functions of portable
electronic devices within reach of the
driver when a vehicle is in motion." That
means she wants to be able to turn off your
cellphone while you're driving.
With very little evidence, the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration
claims that there were some 3,092 roadway
fatalities last year that involved
distracted drivers.
Americans ought to totally reject
Hersman's agenda. It's the camel's nose
into the tent. Down the road, we might
expect mandates against talking to
passengers while driving or putting on
lipstick.
They may even mandate the shutdown of
drive-in restaurants as a contributory
factor to driver distraction through
eating while driving.
You say, "Come on, Williams, you're
paranoid. There are already laws against
distracted driving, and it would never
come to that!" Let's look at some other
camels' noses into tents.
During the legislative debate before
enactment of the 16th Amendment,
Republican President William Taft and
congressional supporters argued that only
the rich would ever pay federal income
taxes.
In fact, in 1913, only one-half of 1
percent of income earners were affected.
Those earning $250,000 a year in today's
dollars paid 1 percent, and those earning
$6 million in today's dollars paid 7
percent.
The 16th Amendment never would have been
enacted had Americans not been duped into
believing that only the rich would pay
income taxes. It was simply a lie to
exploit American gullibility and
envy.
The fact of the matter is that...

From Economic Policy
Journal:
It is done. President Obama has signed the
National Defense Appropriations Act, which
includes Amendment 1031, which allows for
the military detention of American
citizens.
Wolf wrote this just a few days ago
before the NDAA was signed and passed
into law:
I never thought I would have to write
this: but—incredibly—Congress has now
passed the National Defense Appropriations
Act, with Amendment 1031,
which allows for the military detention
of American citizens. The amendment is so
loosely worded that any American citizen
could be held without due process. The
language of this bill can be read to
assure Americans that they can challenge
their detention — but most people do not
realize what this means: at Guantanamo
and in other military prisons, one’s
lawyer’s calls are monitored, witnesses
for one’s defense are not allowed to
testify, and one can be forced into
nudity and isolation. Incredibly,
ninety-three Senators voted to support
this bill and now most of Congress: a
roster of names that will live in infamy
in the history of our nation, and never
be expunged from the dark column of the
history books.
U.S. Congress people and Senators may
think that their power protects them from
the treacherous wording of Amendments
1031 and 1032: but their arrogance is
leading them to a blindness that is
suicidal.
The moment they sign this NDAA into law,
history shows that they themselves and
their staff are the most physically
endangered by it.
They will immediately become, not the
masters of the great might of the United
States military, but its subjects and
even, if history is any guide — and every
single outcome of ramping up police state
powers, unfortunately, that I have warned
for years that history points to, has
come to pass — sadly but inevitably, its
very first targets...

From Joseph
Anderson:
With the passing of the recent
draconian obviously
Unconstitutional NDAA law promising
indefinite detention without trial or
even being charged with a crime combined
with the other illegal kill Americans you
want anywhere in the world once again
without trial - I say Kill me now or
better yet put me in your Gulag.
In either case - then the parasites
sucking off of my productivity will end
once and for all - and if they imprison
me then I get to become a parasite too
with the funding required to keep me
alive taking away from your treasonous
war mongering global domination
resources.
This whole scene going on in Amerika
makes me sick - when I grew up history
was still taught in schools as well as
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Republic
for which it obviously no longer
stands.
If one knows history, the current
Amerika is following in almost the exact
same foot steps of the Third Reich - and
looking more and more like it everyday
that passes.
Hope is fading fast as the Commander
In Chief continues to commit Treason
along with the rest of his criminal gang
to include the US Attorney General (what
a laugh), the head of the Treasury whom
cannot even use a computer program to
fill out his taxes, and all the rest of
that sorry ass bunch.
I would personally like to interview
that dumb bitch that said "Obama gonna pay my
mortgage and put gas in my
car" and simply ask her how
that's working out for her?
How is Obama going to do that? from
his pocket? From the governments Pocket?
The answer is no, he is not going to do
that and if he did it would be giving you
the goods that he stole from the
producers because Government produces
NOTHING! Therefore all the Government has
is what it steals from the producers.
Right?
and these other idiots, I want to
know, how is that Change you can believe in
going?, jobs, lower gas prices
etc. - how's that working out for you?
