FREE T-SHIRTS FOR FIRST 250 FANS AT MIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

DENTON, Texas (Mar. 26) – Here’s two words of advice for TWU gymnastics fans planning on attending Saturday night’s 2010 Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Championships – come early.

The first 250 spectators through the Kitty Magee Arena doors for the 6:00 p.m. scheduled meet will receive a free TWU gymnastics t-shirt courtesy of the Forum at Denton Station. Limited adult and youth t-shirt sizes are available, therefore fans are encouraged to arrive well in advance. Tickets for the competition will go on sale at 4:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Hall main lobby. The doors to the arena will also open at 4:30 p.m.

The battle for this year’s MIC crown should be heated. The top three teams in the conference – Southeast Missouri State, Illinois State, and TWU – are separated by less than seven tenths of a point in this week’s rankings based on regional qualifying score (RQS). SEMO is on top with a 193.695, ISU is second with a 193.425, and TWU is third with a 193.070.

“I’ve been saying all week that this is going to be a insanely intense meet,” declared TWU head coach Frank Kudlac. “I can’t remember a year where the competition has been this close between all five of the MIC teams (SEMO, ISU, TWU, Illinois-Chicago, and Centenary College). Hopefully we’ll get a big crowd out and that will help put our Pioneer gymnasts on top of the podium at the end of the night.”

TWU students that make their way into Kitty Magee Arena tomorrow can take home more than a free t-shirt. Two “Pioneer Pride” scholarships – one for $750.00 and one for $500.00 - will be given away to lucky students just prior to the announcement of the final awards. All it takes to enter the scholarship drawing is a valid TWU Student ID (limit one entry per student and you must be present to win).

Adult tickets for this meet cost just $7.00. Non-TWU students and senior citizens are admitted for only $4.00. Children five and under, as well as TWU students, faculty, and staff receive free admission to all TWU athletics home events. All seating in Kitty Magee Arena is general admission.
